Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 12 oz elbow macaroni
  • 1 cup ranch dressing
  • 8 slices bacon cooked and crumbled
  • 1/2 cup green onions or chives chopped
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
Optional Add-Ins
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar or Colby Jack cheese
  • 1/3 cup diced celery for crunch
  • 1/4 cup diced bell peppers
  • 2 tablespoons sour cream or Greek yogurt for extra creaminess

Equipment

  • Large pot
  • Colander
  • Mixing bowl
  • Knife & cutting board
  • Spoon or spatula

Method

Cook the Macaroni
  1. Cook macaroni in well-salted boiling water until just tender. Drain and rinse with cold water to stop cooking. Let cool completely.
Prepare the Bacon
  1. Cook bacon until crispy. Drain well on paper towels and crumble once cooled.
Mix the Dressing Base
  1. In a large bowl, combine ranch dressing with sour cream or yogurt if using.
Assemble the Salad
  1. Add cooled macaroni to the bowl and toss gently with the dressing until evenly coated.
Add Bacon and Mix-Ins
  1. Fold in bacon, green onions, cheese, and any optional add-ins. Mix gently.
Chill and Serve
  1. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving. Stir gently before serving.

Notes

  • Do not overcook pasta to avoid a mushy salad.
  • Add bacon just before serving for extra crunch if desired.
  • Adjust seasoning carefully since bacon and ranch contain salt.
  • Refresh leftovers with a small splash of ranch dressing.
  • Best served chilled or slightly cool.
