Step 1. Prepare Sauce
- In a bowl, mix marinara sauce with garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Add cooked meat if using.
Step 2. Layer Ingredients
- Lightly grease the slow cooker. Spread a thin layer of sauce at the bottom. Add a layer of uncooked ziti, followed by sauce and a portion of ricotta, mozzarella, and Parmesan. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used.
Step 3. Cook
- Cover and cook on low for 2.5–3 hours, or until pasta is tender.
Step 4. Add Final Cheese
- Sprinkle remaining mozzarella cheese on top during the last 15–20 minutes of cooking.
Step 5. Rest
- Turn off the slow cooker and let the ziti rest for 10 minutes to set.
Step 6. Serve
- Garnish with fresh herbs and serve warm.
