Ingredients
  

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or neutral cooking oil
  • 1 small onion finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger minced
  • 8 ounces mushrooms finely chopped
  • 1 small bell pepper finely diced
  • 1 medium carrot finely chopped or grated
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce or tamari
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Butter lettuce or romaine leaves separated and washed
Optional toppings:
  • sliced green onions sesame seeds, crushed peanuts

Method
 

Step 1. Prepare the Lettuce
  1. Wash and dry lettuce leaves thoroughly. Set aside in the refrigerator to keep crisp.
Step 2. Heat the Pan
  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Step 3. Cook Aromatics
  1. Add onion and cook until softened. Stir in garlic and ginger and cook until fragrant.
Step 4. Cook the Mushrooms
  1. Add chopped mushrooms and cook, stirring, until they release moisture and begin to brown.
Step 5. Add Remaining Vegetables
  1. Stir in bell pepper and carrot. Cook until just tender but not soft.
Step 6. Season the Filling
  1. Add soy sauce and sesame oil. Stir and cook for 1–2 minutes until the mixture is savory and lightly crisp.
Step 7. Assemble the Wraps
  1. Spoon warm filling into lettuce leaves. Add optional toppings and serve immediately.
